William Morris was an influential designer & poet from Victorian England. His patterns are known for their nature-inspired motifs, intricate details, and flowing forms. By weaving Morris' patterns, we at Ekelund embrace a part of the English tradition and blend it with our Swedish heritage, creating a bridge between the past and the future, and between the English and Swedish landscapes.
Fruit
Fruit was designed in 1864, also known as Pomegranate, and is one of Morris’ first wallpaper designs, based on a precise square grid. Morris was familiar with this concept from designing painted tiles. The design is built on the repetition of four rectangular elements, with diagonal branches heavy with lemons, peaches, oranges, and pomegranates.
